Literacy touches virtually every aspect of our lives. Strong literacy skills are linked to work achievement, positive parenting, personal growth, and health and self-esteem. Unfortunately, millions of Canadians age 16 to 65 are challenged with low literacy which hinders their coping with the demands of everyday life and work.
Because of literacy programs, people have a chance to live, really live – not in the dregs of just surviving, but in the glow of succeeding. — Literacy learner, age 45
